Why an Open Source Project
The decision to make the vlingo/PLATFORM an open source project was easy. We believe in our community of like-minded software developers who want to implement Domain-Driven Design, or at least to express solutions fluently, and see the need for a toolset to help them get on with the task.
We know many of you personally and have engaged in numerous conversations regarding the need for and creation of this Reactive platform. We love the contributions of our community! With the support of the vlingo/PLATFORM contributors we have created a toolset we are all proud of.
There are always new approaches and techniques on the horizon. Being an open source toolkit enables the community to experiment with and implement innovations, and to contribute them back to the main platform source.
As well, source code is ultimately the best documentation resource that any developer can have. This gives teams rapid access to understanding the internals of the platform. Open source is also the best guarantee for your investment in developing any toolset.
We are charitable, but not a charity organization. We are a lean, agile, team of hard working people. We need the support of our community of Makers and Givers to be successful over the long term. The Takers are bad for Open Source sustainability and hurt the efforts of sincere and devoted innovators.
Experience the power of Reactive with the vlingo/PLATFORM.
